How To: Rupture the Suspensory Ligament

Exteriorization and visualization of canine pedicles during a dog spay procedure is drastically improved by manually rupturing the suspensory ligament. This technique is traditionally taught by "strumming" the ligament. However, with small incisions, it is not possible for the surgeon to insert a hand into the abdomen to perform this technique.
